You can say I had it all. The fancy house, top of the line car, lots
of friends and more money than anyone could ever imagine. On the
outside, we were the perfect family. No one knew about my abusive
father and my mother who drank herself into oblivion every night. My
name is Karly and I have scars, deep scars that no one knows about,
and when my parents died I was left alone and on my own, to fight
through life with no help.
When it came to life and happiness, I had it all until my world was
turned upside down. My name is Nicholas and my wife, the love of my
life, left me and our new baby girl without as much as an explanation.
I didn’t want to accept it, but after our divorce was final and four
long years passed, I started to lose hope that she’d ever come back.
Emma was growing so fast and I needed help. My sister recommended that
I hire her friend, Karly, as Emma’s nanny. I took a chance on bringing
another woman into my little girl’s life. Did I do the right
thing?
As many days and nights are spent together, feelings can no longer be
denied and a relationship is formed.
Life is about taking chances and learning how to fall, but when the
past comes back, will they be strong enough to fight through and trust
each other? Or will all they worked for fall apart?
“It’s a six pack with a V. You know the thing that girls go crazy
over. Can you think clearly?” I walk slowly towards her again, making
sure I’m not overstepping any boundaries when clearly I am. This whole
staying away from her isn’t working.
His tongue glides along my bottom lip and I swear I think my knees are
about to give out. I slowly open my mouth, inviting him in. Our
tongues meet and wow he can kiss. The slow sexy dance with our tongues
is turning me on full force. The ache between my thighs increases and
my heart is beating so fast. He’s leaving me breathless.
"Don't underestimate me sweetheart. I'm sure I can make you nervous,"
he pauses bringing his lips closer to my ear. "I know I turn you on
just by the sound of my voice." The ache between my thighs is back
with a vengeance as he touches my hand and pulls me closer. "I'm a
very protective man and I'm used to getting what I want," he whispers
as his hot breath travels down my neck. "And I want you, Karly."
“I’m not perfect either. We’re gonna learn more about each other as
the days turn into nights.” I hold his face in my hands, “I’m not
perfect and neither are you, but we’ll be perfect for each other. I’ll
wait until you’re ready Nicholas.”
The depths of his soul are in his eyes, and each time we look at one
another, a piece of his soul belongs to me. I’m not sure how we can
still be friends. The electric charge between us is undeniable. His
kisses make me weak. His eyes make me melt. That smile, wow, his
smile, makes the world stop and everything seem clearer.
“I’ll always be here to repeat our song. I’m not going anywhere.” I
kiss her lips and bring her in my arms.
He brings his hand to my face, cradling it. I love how his touch makes
me feel. “Because you matter to me.”
“Life’s hard, baby. But I need you to listen to me when I tell you
over and over again how much I love you and how much you mean to me.”
Kissing her beautiful head and breathing her in, “Baby we both have
baggage, but that shouldn’t get in the way of our happiness. When I
look at you I see my forever. You’re it for me.” She sniffles holding
me tighter, “and every day we’re together I’m gonna keep reminding you
how amazing you are.”

REVIEW Now, I leave ALOT out of my review due to not liking to give spoilers, but trust me, there is zoo much WTH, WTF moments in this book for me. This was the first book for my by this author and I was really excited to read. I have a couple of her books and just haven't read YET. The prologue to this book really hooked me in and I couldn't wait to read. Karly- After surviving an abusive childhood by the hands of her father while her mother turned the other way, she finished college and moves to start her life over. Over the course of the book, we learn that Karly also dealt with the loss of her high school boyfriend, Bradley( put in motion by HIS mother) and also her college boyfriend Neil. And how those relationships ended. Karly is a very strong person and I really liked how the author didn't make her this weak, damsel in distress. Nicholas- 28 y/o single parent to his daughter 4 y/o Emma after his wife Jamie decided her career as a model was more important than being a mother and wife. Nicholas barely survives dealing with the loss of his marriage before he decides to get clean and put Emma's welfare first. Karly moves in with Alexis, who we find out is Nicholas' sister. Karly and Nicholas were brought together by the meddling sister, Alexis. She sees 2 great people that she loves lonely and needing one another. I did struggle with these 2 characters getting together. Nicholas to me was a jerk. He wasn't very nice to Karly. He didn't like her around other men but he didn't want to be with her either. He couldn't "risk" Emma not being his priority. Again, I did struggle with getting ion the story but it eventually grabbed me in again and the ending was a WTH happened moment. I'm so confused and intrigued and to the reason for this twist. Also PISSED as all get out as to what happens between Karly/Nicholas/Jamie & then Karly/Nicholas. Left on such a CLIFFHANGER!! I'm going to want to know what the heck happened. I look forward to reading the other books from S. Moose. |
