 Synopsis:
The birth of your firstborn child is supposed to be the best day of your life, a joyous occasion. Well that’s what twenty-eight year old Ava Jacobson thought. That is until her life takes a drastic turn for the worse and her daughter is born three months earlier than planned, weighing only two pounds, two ounces.

A distraught Ava is thrown into the deep end of motherhood and instead of being able to hold her baby like other moms, she has to sit back and watch her daughter fight for her life in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, while her fiancé, Sebastian Gilbert is in the midst of a messy war in Afghanistan. Ava is left to pick up the pieces with the help of her only friend, Caleb Summers.

When her vulnerable state hits an all time low, she finds solace in an unexpected pair of intense green eyes. Eyes that belong to her daughter's doctor, Ashton Bailey, and she falls, like she has never fallen before. However, for the sake of Sebastian she desperately tries to fight against her newfound feelings for Ashton, but eventually the pull between the two is so strong that it is impossible for her to stay away.

Then when Ava is convinced things can't possibly get any worse, a cloud of blackness closes in on her as the secret demons of her past come back to haunt her, with news that will irreversibly shake her entire world forever.

As Ava’s roller coaster ride she calls life begins to circle the drain, she quickly learns that even through the darkness of evil, there is always that one person who will look after you and have the ability to pull you away from the brink of no return, when nobody else can.

Author Interview
Hi Elena,

Thank you for taking time and agreeing to this interview.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m twenty-six years old; I’m from Manchester, England. I am a receptionist by day, author by night. I live with my boyfriend of eight years and I’m still waiting for him to put a ring on my finger. Maybe one day…
I absolutely love reading, although lately I haven’t had a lot of time to sit down with a good book. I also love getting lost in a good film, and if I cry, it’s a bonus (Yeah, I’m glutton for punishment).

What influenced you to write your first book Look after you?
I’ve always loved writing. I used to write short stories and I have always wanted to write a novel but life got in the way. After three years at University, I found myself in a rut. I didn’t want to continue down the route that I had studied but I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. During those three years, I probably read two books during that time (not including the books I had to read for studying). Then…Fifty Shades of Grey came out and that brought me out of my reading funk. The hundred of books that followed gave me the push to start writing again and I came up with Look After You. That, and six hours in a hospital with my grandma (God rest her soul – she passed away last year) after she fell and cut her face open (it’s great inspiration when all you have to look at for six hours straight are doctors) and my obsession with Grey’s Anatomy. Also my beautiful niece but I will get to that shortly.

In your book can you relate to any of the circumstances the characters go through, are there any of your own experiences or total fiction?
The neonatal part of my book is a subject that is very close to my heart. My four-year-old niece, Caitlin, was born thirteen weeks premature. I spent a lot of time at her bedside and I became very familiar with the NICU surroundings. Caitlin is definitely my inspiration for Lily-Mai. She’s my little superhero. The rest of the book is total fiction.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?
My ambition is pretty simple. I want to keep on writing. I’ve found something I love to do and I want to continue with it. I hope it turns into a full time career for me and I can write all day long.

If you could write with another author who would it be and why?
Wow, that’s a hard one. There are so many authors who I would love to work with. If I had to pick one, right now…I’d say between S.C Stephens and L.B Simmons. They both know how to draw such incredible emotion out with such simplicity and I absolutely love their work. They are both at the level I would strive to be at and working with either would be an honor.

What are you currently reading?
I have just finished reading Finding My Way by Heidi McLaughlin, which I absolutely loved, and because that starts before Forever My Girl (the first series in the Beaumont series), I have started re-reading Forever My Girl. If you haven’t read it, you need to and the rest of the series.

What are your pet peeves?
Lol…I could be here a while. Idiot drivers, rudeness, bullies, people who lack common sense, the other half when he’s had a drink, when people stand up in front of me at a concert, public transport (the moment I got my driving license was the best day ever), and people talking in the cinema (if you wanted to talk, why come to the cinema!).

Favorite place to read or write?
My favorite place to read is in bed. I love lounging in bed with a good book in my hand.

What is your favorite quote?
I have read a lot of books, and it’s really hard to pin point just one quote, so here is one from my book –

“Well that’s not even worth thinking about. A world without you, is a world not worth living in.” – Ashton Bailey, Look After You.

Have you ever seen yourself as a character in a book or movie?
I can’t say I have. I do love getting lost in a book and getting into a characters mind, almost like you are that person. It’s like you can be a different person with each book.

Are you currently working on any projects?
I’m still trying to get the paperback finalized for Look After You but once that has been completed, I will be continuing with Sebastian’s story from the Look After You series.

Thank you so much for taking part in this interview and we look forward to reading more work from you.
