Unlikely Partners #2
Publication Date: June 11, 2015
Genres: Contemporary, Mystery, Romance
Synopsis: Real life crime solving can certainly put a damper on a romance.
When the biggest gossip in Newburg, Indiana ends up dead—with Sam Arnold’s dad the prime suspect—stuff gets real. It’s been a month and a half since she helped bring down a bad guy. It’s time to try her hand at a new case, especially since her boyfriend is out of town.
Special Agent Mitchell has been saddled with a sexy, driven partner. Cutting corners or covering shortcuts with charm doesn’t work on her. He misses brainstorming with Sam, and now that her dad’s reputation is on the line, the pressure’s on. Evading his watchdog--and snooze-fest new assignment--is top priority.
Time’s running out for Sam and Mitchell to solve the crime. His new partner’s special interest puts their romance in jeopardy and tries the relationship's trust, but an unlikely killer puts life into perspective.

Small towns are supposed to be safe, but in
Newburg, Indiana, a murder has rocked the community. To make matters worse, Sam
Arnold’s dad is a key suspect.
Sam is just a small town girl who writes
romance novels and works at the local café. Her new boyfriend is also an FBI
agent. After helping him on his last case, Sam gets right into the role of
investigator to try to help her dad.
Special Agent Mitchell is trying to get his
career back in order after his last case nearly ended in disaster. Mitchell
needs to focus on his job and not on the new woman in his life. He struggles to
juggle both. He has a hot new partner who wants more than just to work with him
causing difficulty for him and Sam. Sam has ignited feelings Mitchell has never
felt before.
Sam and Mitchell try to figure out their
relationship and try to figure out who murdered the local gossip.
I really tried to love this story but I
couldn’t get past how aloof and airheaded both Sam and Mitchell came across.
The suspense part of the book was good and it really picked up at the end. The
two main characters didn’t have enough personality for me. Mitchell should have
come across stronger and more alpha and Sam needed to be smarter and less
naïve.
Overall the book was ok.
