246.
That's the number of women I've shagged in the last twelve months.
I'm Ryder Stevens.
Don't pretend you don't know me. I'm a god.
I'm hot, I'm British and I take what I want. I'm also the number one ranked tennis player in the world. But it's my off court antics that gain the most attention. I cruise through life, running from one scandal to the next. Hell I can't even take a piss without the world knowing about it.
Rules? Who gives a shit?
Rules are there to be broken and I'm the king of breaking them.
But even the king can be bought to his knees. I'm sidelined with an injury that changes everything.
And suddenly I'm left thinking that maybe my life isn't so perfect after all...
Hooked On Books Reviews for the Wildcard series by Missy Johnson
VOLUME ONE
4 Hooked Stars
This is hard to without putting any spoilers in here, so I am going to keep it short and sweet. Right from page one Ryder is a class A manwhoring pig... When an injury sustained during some very questionable after hours activities causes him to miss the final of the French open and be bed ridden for a few months he is faced with things he has no idea how to deal with.
A letter from a seven year old fan, or not such fan, calling him a butthead start a chain of events where he tries to redeem himself just a little.
I enjoyed this read, it was quick in fact I powered through it in just over an hour, it had it all for me a sexy leading man and story line that hooked me in. I liked that the book was not too serious and that we could love, hate and laugh at Ryder all the way through.
We are left with a bit of a cliff hanger, and if there is a HEA it’s still to come in book two or three but I have to say I am rooting for Ryder....
I give this one a 4 star rating because it hooked me in and kept me reading, but it felt unfinished and I think it would be better with such a short read to have put books one and two together.
VOLUMEs TWO & THREE
Five Stars
So we join Ryder where we last left him in Volume One. Heartbroken and pissed off. I love Ryder, and his growth as a character, especially since Volume 1. In this volume I feel he's actually got a heart and after travelling to see Scarlett because he missed her so much, he's heartbroken when he discovers she's not alone. In Wildcard Volume 2, we get to read not only from sexy British tennis stars point of view, but also from Scarlett's. Through this we get to know more about the sexy single mom of a tragically ill little boy. Scarlett has a past, one she wishes would disappear, but it keeps coming back, and now she's ready to be rid of it forever. I love Scarlett, I love how deeply she cares for Jake, her little boy. I also enjoy her journey of rediscovering herself. This is a definite must read but fair warning... Volume 2 ends of a hell of a cliffhanger... I mean come on! It definitely makes you ready to jump straight into volume 3 and see where this wildcard takes you.
